How to Choose an AHD Camera: Resolution, Lens, Waterproof and Night Vision
A specification checklist for choosing AHD cameras by resolution, IP67 waterproof rating, 170 degree lens, night vision and image direction.

In this guide
Start with the vehicle and mounting position
A rear camera, side camera and front camera do not need the same housing. A license plate camera, butterfly camera, push camera and truck camera all solve different installation problems.
Ask for vehicle type, mounting position and screen type before comparing price.
Choose the right image specification
720P can be enough for budget projects, 1080P is a common mainstream choice, and 4K is suitable for premium image requirements when the monitor or DVR supports it.
A 170 degree lens can cover a wide parking area, but very wide lenses may create more edge distortion. Choose the angle based on the blind area that must be covered.
Check waterproof and night vision
Outdoor rear and truck cameras should normally use at least IP67 waterproof protection. IP68 can be helpful for tougher environments or long outdoor exposure.
Night vision should be tested in real low-light scenes, not only judged by the number of LEDs or marketing wording.
Confirm image direction and TV format
Mirror image is normally used for rear camera display because it matches the driver's expectation. Normal image is often used for front or side viewing.
PAL vs NTSC should match the monitor or regional requirement. Many modern systems support both, but this should still be confirmed before mass orders.

FAQ
Is 170 degree lens always better?
Not always. A wider lens covers more area, but too much width can reduce distance judgment. Choose by vehicle size and mounting position.
Should I choose IP67 or IP68?
IP67 is suitable for many outdoor vehicle cameras. IP68 is better for harsher water exposure or demanding commercial vehicle environments.
