Waterproof IP67 and IP68 AHD Rear Camera Buying Guide
What IP67 and IP68 waterproof ratings mean for AHD rear cameras, and how to choose cameras for outdoor vehicle use.

What IP67 means
IP67 means the product is protected against dust and temporary water immersion under defined test conditions. For vehicle rear cameras, it is a common baseline for outdoor use.
A good waterproof camera still needs proper connector sealing and correct installation angle. The IP rating alone does not protect a poorly installed cable joint.
When to choose IP68
IP68 can be useful for harsher environments, including trucks, construction vehicles, agriculture vehicles and vehicles exposed to heavy rain, mud or frequent washing.
If the camera will be installed low on the vehicle body, water and dust resistance should be checked carefully.
Other durability details
Besides waterproof rating, buyers should check housing material, bracket strength, connector type, operating temperature, vibration resistance and cable quality.
For fleet or OEM buyers, waterproof test photos and sample installation testing are more useful than only reading a catalog line.

FAQ
Is IP67 enough for a rear camera?
For many passenger car rear cameras, IP67 is enough. For harsher commercial vehicle use, IP68 or stronger sealing may be preferred.
Why does a waterproof camera still fail?
Common causes include poor connector sealing, damaged cable, incorrect installation angle or water entering through non-camera accessories.
